European Golf installs Darren Clarke’s synthetic short course

After playing on Lee Westwood’s synthetic putting green I couldn’t believe how true the ball rolled and decided straight away this was the right type of product for me. I didn’t want this to be a gimmick or something I’d use a few times not see any benefit and then forget about so I did some research to understand what products are available and the type of companies who produce, install and maintain synthetic surfaces.

Right from my initial conversations European Golf Ltd made the right impression. They’re golfers who are enthusiastic about what they do and when I met their staff they asked questions to understand what I wanted to gain from a practice area and I didn’t feel they where there just to sell me a product. Their professionalism also shows in their understanding of their products and installations processes. It also helped that they could drop in a few names of other professional golfing friends of mine who have European Golf Greens installed at their homes including Lee Westwood and Nick Dougherty!

European Golf assessed the correct location and designed a complete short game facility for me, which includes a 350 square meter putting green, six tee boxes and two bunkers. The tee boxes have been strategically positioned at various distances and angles away from the green, the longest being just over 100 yards away. The green has been created with varying undulations to help create a more challenging green to land the ball and put on and the bunkers help to provide an all round short game practice facility.

I’m so impressed and pleased with how the ball reacts particularly from the long shot to see it land and release with back spin just like a real grass green. European Golf has also worked with me to improve the speed of the putting surface to make it equivalent to that of PGA and European Tour course greens.

One of the best benefits about the European Golf synthetic surfaces is that it has fantastic drainage, which mean even our great British weather can’t stop me practicing all year round!

I like my luxuries in life and particularly my gadgets so whilst dealing with European Golf I tried out one of their Mini Hummer Golf Buggies and was simply blown away.

The unique and fresh design of this golf buggy meant I simply had to have one and I’m so pleased with my Mini Hummer.

I added some optional extras to the standard Mini Hummer that included making it road legal so that I can drive it from my home to Queenwood Golf club. Its metallic black so I had to add 18” alloy wheels, a stereo/cd player and of course my golf bag carrier.

It’s a Hummer that’s kind to the environment being an electric vehicle and it’s capable on road of travelling at 35mph.

Some luxuries in life are worth it and my Mini Hummer is one of them!

Finch captures Irish title

Richard Finch took a soaking on the way to a two-shot victory in the Irish Open at Adare Manor.

The popular Englishman held a three-stroke lead heading down the 18th but his second shot left him perched on the bank of the river, leaving a difficult approach to the green.

The Yorkshire man managed to hack the ball onto the putting surface but found himself waist-deep in water as he did so, much to the delight of the packed gallery.

With the river safely negotiated, Finch allowed himself a smile - and the luxury of three putts - before sealing the biggest victory of his career just a few months after winning for the first time in New Zealand.

European Golf at the Centre of another new relationship

European Golf Ltd has been awarded preferred supplier status with Centre Parks for all of its synthetic turf requirements.

Centre Parks have a stringent selection process when choosing companies to work with, particularly as one of their main focuses has to ensure minimal disruption to their customers staying at the holiday villages.

After two years working towards meeting the complete requirements of Centre Parks European Golf are now pleased to have commenced work.

First on the agenda was for European Golf to complete a full refurbishment of a 9 hole putting course at Eleveden Forest covering over 420 square meters with our highest grade non-infill synthetic putting greens surface that requires virtually no maintenance. It is durable enough to cope with the high volumes of players and our surface will appeal to both golfing beginner’s and testing enough for the seasoned golfer, giving them the opportunity to feel what its like to put on a PGA quality putting green.

European Golf recently completed this project within the budget and ahead of schedule in time for Summer 2008 holiday season.

Silvermere select European Golf Ltd

Silvermere Golf & Leisure Club January 2008 – European Golf were originally chosen in January 2007 by Doug McKelland PGA Master Professional and Managing Director of Silvermere Golf Club to install a 250 sq m putting green. This provided their members with a short game facility to practice on all year round despite the English weather conditions! It was so successful that only one year later Doug asked European Golf to return to Silvermere and create 600 sq m 9 hole putting course. Doug McClelland said ‘I chose European Golf based on several good recommendations. I could easily see it’s the best product on the market and the beauty of it is it’s maintenance free!’

Silvermere has one of the most challenging pay and play courses in the country. Finch wins as NZ Open gets the thumbs-up

Englishman and European Golf Pro Celebrity Richard Finch held his nerve and his lead to make the New Zealand Open his first career title, but he was not the only one to leave The Hills course in Arrowtown yesterday as a winner.

Finch walked away with the $270,000 winner's cheque after shooting a nervous par round of 72 to clinch the title by three shots.

Lee Wins 2007 British Masters

European Golf’s Professional endorser Lee Westwood wins the 2007 Valle Romano Open de Andalucia.

Lee then became the joint second most prolific English winner when he won his 18th title in The 2007 Quinn Direct British Masters.
